Dear Shirel’s family,
I can’t even begin to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of your daughter. Even though I never met her, I am positive she was a brave, beautiful, wonderful, young lady who wants to help everyone. On October 7th, her life ended in a tragedy, but she lived life for a purpose. Shirel bravely stood her ground in the war room headquarters refusing to leave even after the invaders lit the room on fire. Shirel is truly an inspiration to young ladies to stand up for what’s right and dream big. Once again, I’m so sorry but do not think about the things she didn’t do, think about all the things she did to help and protect her community. Thank you for reading my message.

Dear Pearlstein family,
I am so sorry about the loss of your sweet and inspiring son.
Even though I never met Maayan he sounds like a person who was dedicated to the army and wanted to protect his people. He also sounds like such a kind, amazing, and strong person. Even though that something terrible happened, you still have to remember that he’s always looking down from shamayiam. Always remember to stay strong and never give up no matter what happens. You had a strong and brave son who dedicated his life to Beni Yisrol. With love and compassion to your dear son may his neshama be very happy with Hashem in shamayim.

Dearest,

Dear Lubin family,
My name is Lucy, and I go to the Moriah School of Englewood, New Jersey. I am writing to you as I feel a deep connection to Rose. We learned about her in school, and some of my friends in another class even wrote to you last year and sent a signed Israeli flag. After reading her bio, I can say that Rose’s story is absolutely mind-blowing to me. She is a hero, and she made a huge difference in this world. I have many people in my life named Rose/Rosie, and now I will always think of Rose whenever I see them. Rose’s commitment and dedication protected so many people. She may not be here in spirit, and I may have never met her, but I feel her here in spirit. I look up to Rose and admire her, and I am so sorry for your loss. She was a very special person. May she have an Aliyah for her Neshama.
Sincerely,
Lucy, Age 14

Dear Amar family,
I am so sorry for your loss, ( you probably get that a lot ) . I hope your daughter’s legacy lives on. She seems like she was a very courageous person. I know that you probably aren’t okay yet, but I hope you continue to heal. I can imagine that her sewing projects were very pretty.

Dear Grushka Family,
I am Dahlia from the Moriah School in Englewood, New Jersey. I have heard about Tal’s story and it is very meaningful to me. In school, we are learning about King Shlomo, and I think that Tal is very similar to him in the way that he was very smart and talented in many forms. King Solomon’s selflessness is like Tal’s because they were both quick to help others. Now, whenever I learn about King Shlomo, I will remember Tal for his intelligence, talent, and a personality that reflects that of King Solomon. I am sorry for your loss and I hope that Tal’s neshama has an Aliyah.

Dear Simon’s family,
My name is Nora Gontownik from Engelwood New Jersey and I just finished reading your daughters story. I am so sorry for your loss. I can tell from reading about Adar that she was a joyful person to be around. As I read that she made it a mission to lift others spirits and make them laugh I know you should be proud knowing she died saving 90 soldiers lives. Although Simon was only 20 I can tell you she lived a happy life.
Yours Truly: a 12 year old Moriah school student.

Dear family of Eden,
I’m sorry for your loss. I enjoyed reading about Eden being a phenomenal swimmer. You’re so lucky to have had her in your life. The events of October 7 are devastating and serve to prove what a heroic and unselfish person Eden was. Thank you for sharing her with the world.
