FIDF conducts annual independent financial audits through Grant Thornton LLP, one of the world’s leading accounting firms. Our most recent audit of the 2024 financial statements confirmed FIDF’s strong financial management and validated that our financial statements are in full compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
In addition to our annual financial audit, FIDF’s Finance team conducts targeted program audits each year, performed by BDO in Israel. This year’s program audits are underway and include multiple programs with our grantees, the Association for Israel’s Soldiers and Sheba Medical Center as well as FIDF’s IMPACT! scholarship program. Other programs are reviewed internally with BDO’s support.
In the summer of 2025, there were allegations of improper or excessive spending. We want to assure you that there is no merit to these allegations. When the allegations initially surfaced, FIDF conducted an internal review. The internal review identified certain issues related to organizational culture and staff morale but found no fraud, misappropriation of funds, theft, or kickbacks by or to any board member or employee of FIDF.
FIDF then retained an independent law firm to conduct an additional, independent review. That review found no violations of law or written policy. FIDF is continuing to make sure that our governance and internal controls are comprehensive and state of the art.
FIDF funds requests from The Association for Israel’s Soldiers (AFIS), an Israel-based nonprofit organization, that works with the IDF and the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MOD) for the health, well-being, and education needs of its soldiers, reservists, veterans, and family members. This model ensures that we are delivering the humanitarian aid and support that Israel’s defenders truly need.
In addition to our work with AFIS, FIDF partners with, and funds, other charitable organizations to further support the IDF’s soldiers, reservists, veterans, and family members. These partners include Sheba Medical Center (for the provision of mental health care to veterans, reservists and their families), Nefesh B’Nefesh (for support of Lone Soldiers), Zahav Disabled Veterans Organization (for support of wounded veterans), and others.
FIDF also founded and runs our IMPACT! Scholarship Program that pairs U.S.-based donors with former combat soldiers to sponsor their higher education. IMPACT! is just one of several programs delivered by FIDF itself.
FIDF program funds are disbursed twice a month, based on our letters of commitment with our grantees, as approved in the annual budget by the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. All funding is subject to ongoing review, and program reporting is required.
All restricted donor gifts and program expenses are tracked individually in our financial systems using unique Fund IDs. These IDs are actively managed to ensure that restricted gifts are used exclusively as intended by donors.
It is the responsibility of the Israeli government and the IDF to prepare and train IDF soldiers, and provide them with the necessary tools and equipment, along with food and shelter. FIDF provides supplemental support for the well-being and education of IDF soldiers. You can find out more about our programs here.
In line with our charter and a 501(c)(3) status, FIDF only supports soldier well-being needs and is not permitted by U.S. and Israeli laws to provide military equipment of any kind.
FIDF cannot in any way sponsor military equipment or any services assisting military activity.
FIDF’S SUPPORT DURING THE WAR
After the devastating, barbaric attack of October 7th, FIDF was called upon to mobilize extensive additional resources to address urgent wartime well-being needs. These included funds for medical supplies, search and rescue equipment, additional support for Lone Soldiers and their families, wounded soldier and bereaved family support, mental health solutions, financial relief for soldiers and reservists in need, and more. These needs fall outside the IDF’s budget, but are essential for IDF soldiers’ well-being, education, and welfare—and their overall success. 100% funds raised for the Emergency Campaign are being sent to Israel with no overhead taken.
Since October 7, 2023, FIDF has committed $250 million in emergency funds to multi-year initiatives. This is in addition to $64 million disbursed in 2024 and $76 million disbursed in 2025 to sustain core programs supporting the health, education, and well-being of Israel’s soldiers.
FIDF’s commitments are the highest in our history with our overall commitment of $133 million in 2025 towards our emergency campaign and core programs.
Our Emergency Campaign commitments include:
- $39 million for a first-ever IDF Mental Health and Resilience Center
- $25 million for Mental Health Programs in partnership with Sheba Medical Center
- $23 million for Spirit Weeks that offer soldiers reprieve from combat and early detection screening for PTSD
- $20 million for therapy clinics to treat veterans and their family members
- $17 million for Legacy Camps and Bereaved Family Retreats, which offer the opportunity to connect with others who understand their grief and receive professional support.
$242 million of our $250 million commitment has been raised to-date.
- The full $250 million has been contractually committed, and $159 million has been transferred to date and is already at work:
- $48 million transferred for Mental Health programs
- $25 million transferred for Wounded Soldier and Bereaved Family programs
- $34 million for Emergency Medical Equipment and Supplies
- $52 million for other Emergency Well-Being needs.
- Another $35 million will be transferred by the end of 2026 and $56 million will be transferred over the subsequent 3 years (2027-2029), based on program milestones and deliverables.
- Separately, FIDF continues to fund its core program, amounting to the largest impact in FIDF’s history.
FIDF’ has made multi-year commitments, primarily for mental health support. Payment terms are based on projected demand, project milestones, and operational needs of the multi-year projects listed above. We are responding to our soldiers and families’ needs today while also planning for their futures.
