I am so sorry for your loss. I know that nothing that I say can take away your pain. I am in Dunlap, Illinois, far from Israel, but I pray for everyone over there daily, and especially for you, the grieving families. I light a candle every Shabbat for Israel. Words cannot express the heartache that I have for the people of Israel. Equally, I cannot express how much gratitude I have for all the courageous men and women who have stepped up to defend the Holy Land. As a citizen of the United States, I am deeply ashamed at some of the harsh rhetoric that is being spoken by the college kids who have chosen the wrong side. While, I, being an isolated Jewish covert, know the truth of what happened that day of October 7th, I am still baffled at how quickly those people lost sight of the facts and adopted this notion that Israel was and still is to blame. I did not know this soldier, but he holds a special light in my heart. I can only hope and pray that you all keep your hope and faith in HaShem as He continues to intercede on behalf of His chosen people. I am limited as ro what I can do to help, but please know that continued prayers, giving to the IDF, and this letter is only small token of the love I have for the Jewish people. Be strong, be blessed, and praise be to HaShem.
