Dearest Revital, I am writing to you from a world away, a tiny peaceful province in Canada called Prince Edward Island. My heart aches for you and your family on the loss of a wonderful human being, husband, father, brother, son and friend. While I did not know him, I was inspired by his courage and dedication. I offer up my prayers for you all in this terrible time and want you to know that the people of Israel have my love and support. I pray for a better day when all of the hostages are free and the displaced people of Israel can once again return to their homes to resume a peaceful life. Hello. My name is James Adams and I would just like to offer my condolences to the family of Staff Sgt. Birhanu Kassie.

He gave his life in defence of the Nation of Israel, showing true strength, character, and heart, which is lacking from a great many people in our world today.

I pray that Sgt. Kassie’s loved ones and friends know that his sacrifice was not in vain, and that Israel will stand and will never be destroyed or removed, no matter how many terrorists fight against it.

Since I was a little girl, I read about Queen Esther and I always admired her bravery and her heart for her people. I equally admire your Esther, your beautiful Sgt. Shira, who stood between a great evil and her people—with tremendous bravery, unwavering integrity, and great love. Her beautiful light will never dim. My heart bleeds alongside yours. May Hashem hold you close, now and always.

To the family of Afik Tery, I had the great honor of learning about Afik during a trip to Israel one month ago. His story touched my heart. May his memory be a blessing forever, I will never forget him. I have a photo of him at home that my JNF guide gave to me. For me he represents the courageous young men and women that are fighting for all of the Jewish people around the world. Like many of us here in the USA, my heart aches for you and for our people. I remember reading your words after you heard of your husbands death. I too am a wife, and I felt for you so deeply, to my very core. Zechariah seems like someone who could’ve been a friend, who I could’ve seen in shul, playing with your beautiful kids. What a special soul. Today, the Jewish people stand beside you as you grieve. We stand beside you to honor his precious soul.
