Dearest Sherman family,
We are so very sorry for your loss. Ron will forever be remembered by our family as we had “adopted” Ron and prayed for him until the devastating news of his death was announced. We stand with you in your sorrow and pray that the memories of the time you had with him bring you comfort. You are not alone. We embrace you and honor his sacrifice.
May Ron’s memory be for a blessing always!
Our deepest condolences,
Tzvia (Barashi) Feiertag & Family

Hi, I just read about Or. He sounds like he had a love for people- a thing that we are lacking these days. I’m sorry our nation has lost him. He sounds incredibly special. May you be comforted knowing he defended his people in such a difficult time ❤️

Dear Deitch family,
I am a close friend of Jonathan’s Aunt Jo Jo and grandmother Sally, and I have lit Shabbat candles in Jonathan’s memory since his passing. He was such an incredible person, and I love hearing stories of his life and his family. Jonathan was the biggest hero and I feel honoured to indirectly know him via his Aunt Jo Jo. His beautiful son Ari will continue his beautiful legacy, and we will always make sure that he knows how special his Abba/Daddy was.
Thank you Jonathan for your heroic sacrifice, and to your family for bringing such a beautiful soul into this world.
With lots of love, warm wishes and extra hugs to the family,
From Tash in London, UK xxxx

Dear family of Sgt. Roni Eshel,
I write you from the US with a heavy heart. The world has not been the same for me since October 7, and now I read about Roni with such sadness. Her intuition was special, and she used it and her skills to defend Eretz Israel. She died defending her country and ultimately all Jews and, for that, her life will always have had meaning. Her spirit will always be with you, and now I will light a candle and remember her too. I wish I could have known her.
My closest family lives in Israel, and they all served in the IDF – two generations. They are the family of my father’s brother who jumped off one of the ships that got turned away by the British probably in 1938, and he made it to land. He helped build the country (digging out swamps) and then became the Shammas at Hechal Shlomo in Jerusalem.. His brother, my father, escaped Vienna by train in 1939, after a week of being held by the Nazis. He was 19, the age of Roni. He had a visa to a yeshiva in London run by a famous rabbi – they helped endangered Jewish children in Europe get onto the Kindertransport. Then my father was arrested by the British in London (as an enemy “alien” in their “Fifth Column” policy) and deported to an internment camp in Canada. He did hard labor as a lumberjack for 2-1/2 years till released. His first work then was with Zionist organizations and the beginnings of Jewish youth movements, while cutting dress patterns in a factory to make a living. When he married my mother in 1949, she was living in US after escaping Vienna with her parents as a 12 year old, 10 years earlier. He moved to US and for 30 years was the administrator of what was a new shul when he started. He never got over not being able to save his parents. And my mother’s father never got over trying to save his brother.
Your Roni, serving in the IDF with such honor, knew it was to keep you safe. It is as if she saved the whole country. Am Yisroel Chi. Roni’s memory is a blessing.

I live in Orlando and have been friends for almost 30 years with Debra and Bruce Hoffen. I prayed for 14 months for the recovery of Yona Z”L. He passed away exactly 2 years to the day after my 22 year old son Elliott Z”L. My son was not a hero like Yona Z”L. May they meet in Gan Eden 🙏 May Yona’s memory always be a blessing to your family and to Am Yisrael and may his Neshama have the highest Aliya 🙏 Dan Layish
