Dear Family of Maj. Ilay Levy z”l,

While passing through Ben Gurion train station, I came across a memorial sticker honoring Ilay. The powerful words on the sticker, “We fight for the love of our homeland, not the hatred of the enemy,” struck me. I will forever carry his quote with me.

Please know that his legacy is alive in the hearts of many who continue to be touched by his memory.

We are in Australia. My children’s school gave each student information about a fallen soldier to light a candle for. The Hero we received was your precious David. As we lit the candle, we stood together and said a prayer for him and for you, to thank him for being a Hero and to know he is honoured around the world. A real definition of a hero. Dear Family Jonathan Dean Jr.,

I’m so very sorry for your loss. My own son is a lone soldier in the IDF starting at the age of 23 like Jonathan. Please be comforted in knowing that Jonathan was a young man of great moral convictions and values. A postcard with his bio was given to me at an Israel Memorial Day ceremony in Cleveland, OH last night. Know that I and many around the world will keep him and your family in our prayers.
