Yair Yaakov Shushani’s family

Yair was a hero and I am sorry for your loss.
He was a brave and kind soldier, and I know that you miss him very much. I know that everyone is very thankful for him saving many important and valuable lives.

I am also a student in Netivot Hatorah just like Yair used to be. We did an event in school about Yom Hazikaron and out of all the people they could have chose to talk about, one of the people were Yair. We lite a memorial candle for him and everyone heard about his story. It was very emotional. Never forget to continue being brave. Hashem will always be with everyone.

Eitan sounds like an amazing person who always saw the best in every moment and person. He knew exactly what he was fighting for and never let anger or hatred blind him. I wish I could have met him, I’m sure he would make me smile and brighten up my day like he has probably done for you a million times. I hope there are more people like Eitan in the world, that share his kindness and love for life. I want to thank you, Eitan for your honor, bravery, and love that you spread to the world and everyone around you. To your family, I am already sad that I never got to know him, I can’t imagine how it must feel for you. But know that for every person that reads or hears his story, his memory and love for life will carry on, like the winds of earth reaching every corner and carrying on until everyone knows his message. I hope we all hear and live by his quote, I know I will try to today. I pray for peace, so no one will ever have to go through what you have gone through again. Dear Shushan’s family, I am writing to you on Yom Hazikaron 2025. I am a grade eight student at Netivot Hatorah day school. Today, during our annual Yom Hazikaron assembly, a lot of time was spent learning about Shushan and his bravery. It was very inspiring to learn about someone who went to Netivot and to hear his story. I know for a fact that other students here felt inspired by Shushan’s courage as well. Until today, after learning about Shushan, I had never realized how privileged I am to live in a safe area, surrounded by people who love me. I could never imagine my life being taken, or the life of someone I love being taken. For that, I give my greatest respect. I can’t imagine the pain that all of you have gone through. When my older brother was in grade five, Shushan was in grade eight. My brother did not know Shushan well, but he did know that Shushan was a good person.

Dear Zisser family,
I hope all is well, today as I read Ilay’s story I realize what heroic action he had done and I want to let you know that even though I have never seen you before I would like to thank Ilay for helping those people although instead of them loosing their life he lost his for those other people. I would like to also point out how brave he was for risking his life to protect this nation, including me, this nation, and the people and Jews around the world.

Because of Ilay’s brave action I think it made a big impact so that Israel stand strong and as one. Because of Ilay’s sacrifice I am honestly amazed that people in this world would do something like that and now I know their are hero’s like him to protect Medinat Yisrael and our homeland.

During this year’s Yom HaZikaron ceremony, I realized how young these solders are when they have perished including Ilay, how they probably had so much family that cared for them including Ilay and how they probably had many dreams that they wanted to accomplish. I felt how that even though we live far apart, we are one nation, one whole big family, and how each soul and life matters.

I want to let you know that I am praying for all of the solders and hostages to come back alive after this war. And I will remember that there will be someone to protect Israel like Ilay.

Rose seemed like an amazing person,Daughter,Sibling,Etc. Because of her bravery and sacrifice I can grow up as a proud Jew. Rose helps me know that there are heroes like her who protect our people and homeland. Please know Rose will never be forgotten. We remember her not just as a solider but as one of us. I am very grateful to Yair for sacrificing his life to protect Am Yisrael. It is strange for me that, as a Netivot Hatorah student, these very halls were also walked by Yair. I felt connected to him when I watched a Yom Hazikaron play that talked about him. He was an amazing soldier and will be remembered by me. I hope that one day, there will be no more war, and there will be no more need for sacrifices like Yair’s. I promise to think of him when I feel grateful to all the soldiers who fell in battle.

dear hero, thank you for your service and bravery. even though I never met you I want to thank you for everything you did to serve bnei yisroel. at netivot hatorah (my school) we had a tekes to commemorate the lost heros. during the tekes I wondered about how how young you might have been, or if you ever missed your family. to your family, be strong, please know that your child or brother is not forgotten. we rember him not just as a soldier but as one of us, a proud jew.
