When I sat down to a JNF fundraiser in San Diego Reef’s photo and information as a fallen hero was at my seat. Each person had one fallen individuals photo and information. Then his father spoke at an FIDF event I attended. His photo and information is in my home and I light a candle in his memory. He will never be forgotten. May we live lives worthy of his sacrifice. To his family, may you be filled with love and strength. Anne, San Diego California

Master Sgt. (res.) Yaron Victor Shahar
Dear Einat, Zohar, Inbar and Ofir
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your brave and loving husband and father.
He fought for the land that allowed my grandparents and my mother in after suffering the trauma of the Holocaust. If not for people like him, they would probably never have survived.
When my mom died, the Rabbi told me that she would never be gone as she lives and travels with us all the days of our lives. I know this is little consolation at these difficult times, but I hope it helps a little bit to think that way as it helped me.
I live in the NYC area with my 3 kids and my husband and my old 16 year old dog. We are here to support the families of the soliders like you and your precious Yaron and to thank them and you. We pray for the day when the war is over, the hostages are back and we can rejoice again in the country of Israel.
My cousin is serving in the North trying to protect the north from attacks and allow residents to return.
Everyday I worry but I try to tell myself I must be strong for him as your Yaron was for your family.
May his memory be a blessing and you carry him with you all the days of your life.
Much love to you all

Sgt. Osher Chemaya
Dear Yaakov, Evelyn, Ofek, and Aline,
I am writing to express my deepest condolences on the tragic loss of your beloved Osher and his father. No words can truly capture the sorrow you must be experiencing, but I hope to offer you some measure of comfort during this heartbreaking time.
Osher’s untimely passing on October 7th, especially in such a dreadful manner, is a profound loss not only to your family but to everyone who knew him and benefited from his radiant spirit. His dedication as a soldier in the Gaza Command Center and his love for soccer showcased his multifaceted talents and his passion for everything he did.
Osher’s prowess on the soccer field brought immense joy to his countless fans and provided inspiration to fellow players and spectators alike. His father, serving as his biggest cheerleader, shared and nurtured this bond, making their presence at each game a celebration of both family and talent. Osher’s skill, determination, and the mutual love for soccer he shared with his father will remain indelible memories in the hearts of many.
As a resident of Be’er Sheva and an honorable soldier, Osher’s dedication to his team, his friends, and his nation spoke volumes about his character. He was known for his cheerful disposition, his unwavering camaraderie, and his refusal to complain, embodying the spirit of an all-around great individual.
I can only imagine the pain of losing not only a wonderful son and brother but also a devoted father and husband. Please know that the thoughts and prayers of many are with you during this time of mourning. Osher’s influence, both on and off the field, and the shared love between him and his father serve as a testament to the powerful bond of family and the enduring legacy they leave behind.
May you find solace in the cherished memories of their lives, and may their spirits provide you with strength and comfort.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Idalmis Aznay
