Dear Bouton family,
I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your beloved son, Staff Sgt. Itay Bouton. Itay’s bravery, wisdom, and kindness were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His selfless act of rushing towards danger to save his comrades’ lives stands as a testament to his extraordinary character and heroism.
Itay’s love for Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer and his quick wit brought joy to many. His deep sensitivity and thoughtful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. It is heartbreaking to lose such a remarkable young man who had so much to offer to the world.

Dear Elhanan’s loved ones,
My heart is full of love and sorry for your grief. I want you to understand that I am a mother who lost a son to violence. On June 25, 2023, my then 25-year-old son, Benjamin, was shot and killed in a random act of violence. He was two blocks from his apartment and was returning from walking his girlfriend home. My pain and grief are deep, and I am not ever going to be the person I was before. So, I understand your grief and I grieve with you, every day. That Elhanan and Ben are gone is devastating and wrong, and the world is a worse place without them. I am so deeply sorry and will hold Elhanan in my heart and think of him and you every night when I light a candle for Ben.
