Dear Avraham’s family,
He was brave, and was definitely the light of your sky, and the moon of your night. He was a brave soldier, and an even braver friend. He might have been the only one who would step between danger and his friends. He always tried to neutralize things. Avraham is one of the only people who would listen to people and help them out. He was valiant and a champion because he had a choice of living a normal life, but instead he followed his father and grandfather’s path. He is a miracle to those he protected, and I promise he will watch over you, and every step you take will be one more miracle in your life.

I am so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. I’m writing simply because I did not want your family’s grief to pass in silence. I want you to know that someone who never met your loved one is still thinking of them with respect—and thinking of you with real care.
I know a letter cannot ease what you’re feeling. Still, I hope it helps in some small way to hear: your loved one is being honored, their name is being remembered, and your family is not alone in this sorrow.
I also want to express my respect and gratitude for the sacrifice your loved one made, and for everything your family has endured. I am holding you in my thoughts with sincerity. If this letter does only one small thing, I hope it reminds you that your loved one is being remembered, and that your family’s loss matters.

Adi reminds me of my son, especially in his warm smile. My only child has been serving in the United States military for almost 20 years. The sacrifices these heroes make are a testament to their exceptional character.
Adi is, and will always be loved by mothers, and by all who care about these brave men and women who serve.

We are so sorry for your loss. Sahar sounded like a selfless and very special young man. What a beautiful tribute you have made for him with this video and the gym in the park. His memory will live on forever.
“Do Good for Others” is something we have always tried to live by so it really stuck home with us when we heard that’s how he lived his life. It sounds like he made the world better for you, his family, his friends and fellow soldiers and everyone he came in contact with. You all should be very proud of Sahar and we’re sure you are. We send you our heartfelt condolences and thank him for his service and sacrifice. May his memory forever be a blessing.

Dear Family,
There are no perfect words for a loss like yours—no sentence that can truly hold the weight of what you are carrying right now. Still, I want you to know that you are not alone in your grief. You are in my thoughts, in my prayers, and in the hearts of so many who will never forget the sacrifice your loved one made.
Your hero gave something that can never be repaid—their life, in service of others. Because of them, people like me wake up each day with freedoms we often take for granted. Because of them, we live in safety, in possibility, in hope. That kind of courage, that kind of selflessness, is rare. It is extraordinary. And it will never be forgotten.
I know, in my own way, how deeply loss can change you. I lost my dad a year ago, and it reshaped everything I thought I understood about life. Grief has a way of settling into the quiet moments, showing up when you least expect it, and reminding you that the world is not the same. But I’ve also learned that it’s okay to change because of loss. It’s okay to carry them with you in a new way—to grow, to live more intentionally, to become someone they would be proud of.
Your loved one’s story does not end here. It lives on in you, in your memories, in the way you continue forward. And while nothing can take away the pain, there is something powerful in honoring their life by living fully, by holding onto the love they gave, and by allowing that love to shape what comes next.
I cannot pretend to understand the depth of your sorrow, but I stand with you in honoring your hero. Their bravery, their sacrifice, and their legacy matter—more than words can ever express.
May you find strength in each other, comfort in the memories you shared, and peace in knowing that your loved one made a difference that will echo far beyond this moment.
With deepest sympathy, respect, and gratitude,
Jessica DiGrazia
