Dear family of Lieutenant Adar Ben Simon,
Shortly after October 7th, 2023, I visited the Zikim Army Base together with my friends from the IDF. Adar’s name, her bravery and her brutal death were mentioned at location.
Today, just before lighting the Shabbat candles, I remember her name again. Please know that her name and her sacrifice are honored here in Griesheim, Germany. Adar and the whole IDF were and are protecting us and me – not only in Israel but also worldwide.
I proudly wear my IDF badge in public whenever leaving my apartment. Even at work and when walking through the Muslim Arabic areas of London.
Recently, I attended a Christian rap music concert in Frankfurt. From the 1200 people in the audience, less than 10 were above the age of 30. 15 teenagers, aged 12 to 19, gathered around me and asked me about my IDF badge. I told them about my deeply emotional relationship with the IDF. Each one of the 15 reacted positively. I asked them why. They all had heard the truth about Gaza, Israel and the IDF from their pastors.
Unfortunately, they are still a minority. But their number is growing.
Wishing you eight nights of peace, love, and comfort. חַג אוּרִים שָׂמֵחַ
