Dear Mishpacha Russo: You have all of our love and condolences and wishes for comfort. We were in Israel last month on a major solidarity mission with 160 other Americans. We visited K’far Aza, Sderot, the Nova festival and many other places associated with Oct. 7. We hug you all and send our love and wishes for comfort. Zichrono l’ivracha, the name of Uri Shimon Russo will forever be a blessing to Hashem and the Jewish people.

Dear family of beautiful Afik- I don’t know you but know you. I saw your son’s beautiful face and weep at the blessing he gives to the State of Israel and the Jewish people through his bravery. Please know that hearts are connected to yours. We are here in US fighting where we can with our government, supporting Israel with donations, and being in touch with our family there. Everyone that knew your son must consider themselves truly lucky.
I spent a year on Kibbutz Yagur in 2006 and it was such an incredible and magical place.
As parents you can be confident that you raised Asif in such a special loving community surrounded by some of the warmest people in the world.

Form across the world, I want you to know that I lit a candle for Mordechay today and gave my thanks to him for helping to protect not only Israel but Jews all over the world. We survive only because of the courage of people like your Mordechay who run towards danger instead of away. He may not have length of days but I hope in his short life he got to experience the best of life: love of family, having children, friends and and knowing what he was doing was saving others. I cannot know your feelings, but I have known grief and I am so sorry that you are experiencing it. We live in memory and know that someone today remembers and thanks your Mordechay.
