TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – Yesterday at the office of the Ministry of Defense in Israel, FIDF Chairman Morey Levovitz and FIDF National Director Maj. Gen. (Res.) Nadav Padan signed an agreement to partner with the Sheba Medical Center and the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization in a national initiative to treat IDF soldiers with PTSD.
Supported by the Ministry of Defense, this new FIDF initiative is bringing together stakeholders from across industries to establish all-encompassing solutions that will deliver critical mental health assistance for IDF veterans and their families in the wake of the October 7th attacks and ensuing war.
FIDF will bolster Sheba Medical Center’s trauma treatment network across the country, increasing its capacity by 50% to prepare for the increase in expected PTSD diagnoses. FIDF funds will also be allocated to establish mental health centers within existing IDF veteran rehabilitation facilities nationwide, with a focus on the southern and northern regions.
“When hundreds of thousands of Israel’s courageous soldiers were called to service more than three months ago, we recognized the gravity of what they would face and the potential trauma they would endure. We immediately mobilized upon the request from the Ministry of Defense to find macro solutions for IDF soldiers and their families,” said FIDF CEO Steve Weil.
These solutions include initiatives for PTSD prevention, early detection, early intervention, and comprehensive treatment opportunities across the country for service members and their families.
“We are humbled to partner with world-renowned Sheba Medical Center in providing the best possible care for the heroes who make inconceivable sacrifices for the safety and security of Israel,” said Weil.
