Mental health issues are real and will only increase as soldiers return home with trauma and comprehensive baggage of PTSD. In an incident in January 2024, a soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) woke up in the middle of the night and, semi-conscious, began shooting blindly at his comrades. Luckily, there were no fatalities, but it served as a reminder of the stress that these young men and women are experiencing under battlefield conditions. The visionary goal is to establish a unique, centralized treatment center to diagnose and treat active duty and reserve soldiers affected by PTSD.
The facility will include:
Joint Research and Development Center
Studies on soldiers’ resilience; measurement tools for resilience; trauma studies; development, formulation, and publication of guidelines and operations methods; formulating resilience training
Commander Training and Certification Center for Resilience
Theoretical and practical training for combat and combat-support units’ commanders (from junior command to brigadier level); resilience training
Therapist Training Center
Learning days; trauma courses; emphasis on unique characteristics for treatment in a military and war context
Treatment Center
Individual and group psychotherapy; treatment rooms; therapeutic pool; sports fields; gym
