Bar/Bat Mitzvah Projects
Add even more meaning to your milestone occasion.
At the age of 18, when teenagers around the world are starting college and embarking on their adult lives, Israeli men and women join the Israel Defense Forces, vowing to protect the Jewish homeland. These men and women take on grueling training and missions to ensure their families and friends can go about their days unharmed.
As you look forward to your own important milestone of becoming a Jewish adult, an FIDF Mitzvah Project will help you take part in one of Judaism’s most important values: tikkun olam, or repairing the world.
Through an FIDF Mitzvah Project, you can provide Israel’s heroes with a variety of support:
- A warm Shabbat meal for a soldier and his/her family
- A flight home for a Lone Soldier to visit his/her family abroad
- A college scholarship for a former combat soldier
- Summer camp for the child of a fallen soldier
- A food voucher for a soldier in-need
Step 1: Pick your platform
If you have a Facebook account, you can start a fundraiser on Facebook and share your campaign with friends directly on Facebook. Alternatively, you can create a webpage using JustGiving, a peer-to-peer fundraising platform.
Step 2: Set up your campaign
Write your personal story about why you are choosing FIDF. Tell your friends about the program that you are dedicating your fundraiser to. Then pick a photo. You can use your own, or choose any from the FIDF website:
– Hover over the photo of your choice
– Right-click your mouse
– Click “save image as”
– Upload when creating your campaign on Facebook or JustGiving fundraising page
Step 3: Share your campaign!
Publicize your project to your family and friends to secure support for Israel’s brave men and women in uniform. Either post your Facebook fundraiser, or email the link to your JustGiving page. Your friends and family will have the opportunity to comment, contribute, and share.
FIDF is here every step of the way to help you build the Mitzvah Project of your dreams! Contact your local chapter for assistance.
