Emergency Well-Being Support
How FIDF Is Making a Difference
Thanks to your invaluable support, FIDF has committed $250 million in emergency campaign funds and counting, in addition to $63 million in 2024 for our core FIDF programs. Every dollar has been carefully invested in initiatives for maximum impact for soldiers across Israel.
Emergency Well-Being Support
Medical Equipment & Supplies
Medical equipment and supplies include life-saving field hospitals that can deliver complex medical care and enable doctors to perform emergency operations, all while in the field. FIDF donor contributions have gone towards operational ambulances, including some of the very ambulances used by the IDF medical teams to treat and transport released hostages. We have furnished warehouses of medical supplies, including portable x-ray machines, ventilators, and blood warmers. We have provided life-saving plasma for the thousands of civilians and soldiers treated by IDF first responders, along with a myriad of other essential humanitarian supplies.
Search & Rescue Equipment
Search and rescue necessities funded by donor contributions include DNA analyzers that give countless families of fallen heroes comfort in the expedient identification of their loved ones. Hundreds of GoPro cameras financed by FIDF donors have also played vital roles in the identification of missing friends and family members, as well as for documenting their findings.
Lone Soldier Support
Lone Soldiers, those in the IDF with no family in Israel to turn to for support – sometimes new immigrants, volunteers from abroad, or individuals from broken homes – have required additional emergency support during this war, above and beyond the over $5 million annually that FIDF already provides. Together with our partners, Nefesh B’Nefesh, we launched “Operation Hug,” for Lone Soldiers to benefit from complimentary flights that bring loved ones to them during their military service, as well as increased logistical and emotional support during these times of war.
Emergency Well-Being Support
Well-being support of our defenders cannot be underestimated. Such essentials, distributed together with our partners, the Association for Israel’s Soldiers (AFIS), include basic human needs such as personal hygiene kits, hundreds of thousands of towels and clothing items, underwear, and thermal clothing. These essentials can make all the difference for soldiers during this war. Spiritual needs are also met with supplies of Tzitzit, Torah scrolls, and other items. Select financial support for families of soldiers in FIDF’s adopted brigades assists urgent situations for those who may otherwise rely on the income of their loved one who is serving. FIDF’s 24-hour recharge sessions give 300 soldiers at a time a necessary break from combat and essential services such as physical rehabilitation and screening for early detection of PTSD.
Wounded Soldier & Bereaved Family Support
Wounded soldier and bereaved family support has been a devastating necessity since October 7. FIDF contributions have provided hundreds of care packages and financial support for wounded soldiers. Financial assistance has also helped bereaved families, some of whom lost everything, including their loved ones, possessions, and homes, with immediate necessities such as shelter, food, and basic essentials. We have also provided hundreds of laptops to orphans and siblings of fallen soldiers to stay connected to family and friends. Tragically, FIDF has also funded a necessary funeral vehicle to transport fallen soldiers to their final resting place.
PTSD & Mental Health Solutions
The Israeli Ministry of Defense estimates that more than 25% of combat soldiers will need mental health rehabilitation, 5% are projected to suffer from acute PTSD. For those with physical injuries, the risk of acute PTSD rises significantly. Anticipating these unprecedented needs, FIDF is collaborating with the IDF, the medical and academic communities, and the Ministry of Defense to proactively address this inevitable crisis with an $87.5M plan to provide comprehensive solutions for active-duty soldiers and veterans. FIDF’s plan of support includes:
