The Golan Artillery Brigade, part of the Israeli Artillery Corps, is responsible for providing ammunition during battle and operations. The brigade’s six battalions operate some of the most advanced artillery weapons of their kind, providing critical support in all major operations across the country.
The Golan Artillery Brigade was established shortly before the Yom Kippur War, when artillery forces were dramatically increased along the northern border. During the Yom Kippur War, members of the Golan Artillery Brigade participated in conquering the Golan Heights, dramatically impacting the course of Israeli history. Each of the brigade’s battalions fought in pivotal clashes during the First Lebanon War, including the Battle of the Beaufort and the Siege of Beirut.
Until recently, the Golan Artillery Brigade was stationed near the Syrian border as part of the Northern Command. However, due to recent restructuring, the brigade has now become an all-purpose wartime division, unique in its versatility to travel to any combat arena and support other divisions.
