FIDF Soldiers Educate the Next Generation

One of the most unique branches of the IDF is its Education Corps, faced with a variety of tasks involving the promotion of national values. This one-of-a-kind branch works in a range of fields connecting the IDF with Israeli society.
Cpl. Yael Shtockman is one of the many soldier-teachers that work in Israeli schools across the country. As a Hebrew teacher in an elementary school in Beer Sheva, she is tasked with educating new immigrants and incorporating them into Israeli society. Her unique role as a soldier and teacher gives her a special opportunity to work closely with children.     Read More

On The Front Lines of Medical Care: The National Medical Command Center

They operate around the clock to ensure the safety of civilians and soldiers alike, and were a central factor in the defense of the Home Front during Operation Protective Edge. From organizing hospitals to the evacuation of injured by helicopters, the National Medical Command Center was an integral part of saving lives.

F-16I Soufa Aircraft Crashes in Southern Israel

On Wednesday night (Nov. 11), an IAF fighter jet crashed in a crater in southern Israel during routine training. Search and rescue forces searched the area for the two missing crew members. The bodies of Maj. Emanuel Levy, z”l , a 30-year-old navigator from Ma’ale Adumim, and Maj. Amihai Itkis, a 28-year-old pilot from Sde Warburg, have both since been identified.

Central Region Legacy Summer Camp Bar/Bat Mitzvah 2010

This past July, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces Central Region hosted thirty six Bar/Bat Mitzvah-age children of fallen IDF soldiers at JCC Camp Chi. LEGACY teens first spent a few days in Chicago, sight-seeing and shopping, hosted by local Jewish-American families and forming relationships within the community.

250 FIDF IMPACT! students participated in an IFCJ tribute event in Israel

On Friday, August 6th, 250 FIDF IMPACT! students paid tribute to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ), thanking them for their donation. The IFCJ has generously sponsored the academic education of these students, at the cost of approximately 4 million dollars.

Friends of the IDF New York Tri-State Region Joins Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride

The New York leg of Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride kicked off on Thursday, July 22nd. It lasted until Saturday, July 24th, and went from Macy’s in Herald Square in downtown Manhattan, to the Hamptons. More than forty wounded soldiers from the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan participated in the ride

“From Boot Camp to the Campus"

In May of 2009, 14 FIDF supporters took part in the Boot Camp Mission that took place at the IDF Corps. of Engineers training base just north of Eilat. This week-long trip had a resounding effect on the Soldiers of the IDF and particularly, on 15 former combat soldiers in-need who received full IMPACT! scholarships as a result of the mission.

“Art on the frontlines"

Upon receiving a call from Craig Dershowitz, founder of Artists 4 Israel, asking if he could bring a group of artists to visit soldiers in Gaza and paint their barracks, we decided to go through with it despite our hesitation.
