IDF Soldier Killed in Rocket Attack from Gaza Strip

posted: 11/20/12

An 18-year-old soldier was tragically killed when a barrage of rockets and mortars fired from the Gaza Strip hit the Eshkol Regional council this afternoon. Five people in the region were also injured during another barrage of rockets.

Since the onset of 2012, over 1,000 rockets have been fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip. On November 14th, Israel targeted the head of Hamas’ military wing and launched Operation Pillar of Defense to significantly cripple Hamas’ infrastructure and bring peace back to the South of the country.

Thousands of men and women soldiers have been deployed and many have volunteered to serve and protect Israel. The young soldier killed was among the forces deployed to the region in recent days to back up the troops already stationed there.

FIDF sends strength and condolences to his family in Israel and prays for the soldiers recovering from injuries from the operation.
