FIDF and The IDF Air Force Ensemble Brings The Sounds of Israel to Morris Plains
On December 13th, Adath Shalom of Morris Plains warmly welcomed for the first time, the IDF Air Force Ensemble and Captain Ofer of the Israeli Air Force for a Musical celebration. Captain Ofer is an active duty pilot who flies the F-15I “Ra'am” (which means thunder in Hebrew). After the performance, guests had an opportunity to meet & greet the ensemble and Cpt. Ofer. This casual environment was a special opportunity for guests to meet the soldiers and learn about their life and army service.
“looking at each ‘kid’ in the choir, there was a deep desire to hug each one, and to somehow transmit in that hug all the love and Zionist aspirations of my entire parents’ generation and then in the same hug I wanted to transmit to them the love and struggles of the support of Israel of my whole generation….
But of course they (the choir members) are only ‘themselves’ – young twenty-something Israelis… not realizing (and how could they or should they ) what they represent on such a deep level to all of us …
Still, even being ”in the moment” with them, we were so very proud and enthused and protective and excited to house them in our Beit Knesset and in our community.
Thank you for helping to make it happen” - Rabbi Biller, Adath Shalom
“The walls were bouncing with youth, vibrancy and pure joy. Yasher koach. This troupe was one of the best IDF groups we have seen and we have seen them at other events over the years. As a congregant, I was so proud of showcasing our building and as an educator I was thrilled to see so many of our families out on a Monday evening.” - Charlotte Frank, Director of Religious School at Adath Shalom
Friends of the IDF is very touched by the warm hospitality and is proud to have great friends and supporters in Morris Plains, NJ!
