FIDF Comes To Princeton
On August 11, 2010 the Princeton, NJ area community had it’s first introduction to the FIDF. This premier meeting for adults was held at The Jewish Center of Princeton with approximately 50 interested friends in attendance.
The event was hosted by Merrye and Steve Hudis, whose son Loel Hudis, currently serves as a Chayal Boded in Nahal. The speaker for the evening’s program was Nimrod Avital, a former member of the Shaldag who is currently attending college as a recipient of the FIDF’s IMPACT program. This former soldier was able to share his own story, as well as that of his families with the group. He answered questions about his experiences and took pictures with the group.
Earlier in the day, Nimmie toured the campus of Princeton University, visited the town and made a special stop in uniform at the local JCC day camp. He was a big hit with the campers where he told them of his experiences as a child in Israel and then later as a soldier. Nimmie answered many of the camper’s questions with honesty and patience. Later he admitted how impressed he was with the group and how he enjoyed being with them.

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same.... The Legacy children have left footprints on my heart., and the short time that the community host families and myself spend with them in the summer are treasured moments I only pray we can give them much love and support."
