What We Do to Help Lone Soldiers in the IDF
Guests of the April 4th parlor meeting learned from Joshua Flaster, former soldier and Yale Graduate, of the experience of serving in the IDF as a lone soldier.
“The event on April 4th was very emotional and informative for me. I had a lengthy talk with the guest speaker, Joshua Flaster, and learned first hand what the experience of a Lone Soldier really is like. The films were also helpful. As the mother of a Lone Soldier living so far away, the films were difficult to watch, even though I am proud of what my son is doing and support him in doing it. It is his dream and journey in life. To see so many people show up at this meeting, who don't even have a son in Israel, was extremely meaningful to me. It showed me that, not only is he not alone, but neither am I, in support of the IDF.
My son's 21st birthday is May 5th and Joshua has already contacted me to plan something for him at his base in Israel. I may not be there for his birthday, but FIDF will help me let him know that the hearts of his family are with him for his special day. I look forward to someday going on a Mission with the Friends of the IDF.”
