December 6th Gala Dinner

The Palm Beach/Broward Chapter of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, made history at its Gala Dinner on Dec. 6 by raising more money in a single evening in its history. Donors contributed 25 scholarships for Israeli Soldiers; approximately $500,000 by the end of the evening.
Sam Moshe, Board Member gave an impassioned speech and read a letter from an Israeli soldier that had been published in Jerusalem post. “The impact of this is that we help young men or women, teach them a profession, get them out of poverty, and make them productive citizens for life,” Said Moshe, “Maybe one of them will be a doctor or teacher saving lives or educating others. This is how we can change the world.”
We also had a very special group from Boca Raton celebrate a bar mitzvah at the Oketz K-9 Unit Base. The group saw a demonstration of the dogs during training and topped off their visit with a basketball game between the group’s youth and the young soldiers on the base. Of course, the IDF prevailed… though the final score remains a security secret.
