Western Region Adopts Soldier’s House in Jerusalem
Establishing a new Soldier’s House in Jerusalem has been one of the Israel Defense Forces' highest priorities. To provide for the soldiers' needs, FIDF Western Region has adopted and will fund a new Soldier’s House that will provide Lone Soldiers and soldiers who serve in the greater Jerusalem area with the accommodations and necessary facilities to support IDF’s mission.
Cheryl & Haim Saban have designated a $5 million gift for the project which will be named after them. Los Angeles Chapter Chairman Leo David and his wife Ruth have committed an additional $2 million towards the project while Chapter President Paul Guerin and his wife Vera have committed $500,000, and Erica Glazer has committed $500,000.
The Soldier’s House will provide accommodations for 600 soldiers, as well as a 400 seat auditorium, lobby and cafeteria, offices, and classrooms. When completed, the facility will host IDF forums & seminars, cultural and educational activities, units’ gatherings and events, all for one purpose only – to provide for IDF’s soldiers and improve their well-being.
